By Michael Barrett On April 18, 2010 NO COMMENTS

I don’t see anything wrong with this, do you?

By Michael Barrett On April 17, 2010 NO COMMENTS

When I was in high school, I dated a boy who was a little bit older than me. I was 16 when we started dating, and he was 22. I know what a lot of people say about dating older guys, but to this day I don’t think that is true in every instance. He was a very nice boy, he was not only "out for one thing", and we had a good relationship for 3 years. We simply grew apart when I was going to college. He was done with college, I wanted to go to college to succeed, focus on my studies, etc. So that’s how our relationship ending. It wasn’t hostile, and I was sad about it at the time, but looking back on it, I’m glad it worked out that way. We are just both totally different now. People make a lot of judgments about relationships

How to succeed in college courses/life?

By Michael Barrett On April 17, 2010 NO COMMENTS

Hey guys and gals, I’m in my second year of college and now that the classes have started to get harder and more accelerated, I’m noticing slightly worse grades than last year.

Is there any way to get a sure-fire A in all my classes? What are some good studying techniques, and techniques to make me focus ONLY on studying? Have any time management tips?

I work 3 days a week (at a job), 4 hours a day. I go to college 5 days a week with a 50 minute commute (both ways). I’m taking 16 credit hours.

If you were a new muslim would you please tell us why you choosed islam?

By Michael Barrett On April 17, 2010 NO COMMENTS

How I Came to Islam (Cat Stevens)

All I have to say is what you know already, to confirm what you already know of the message of the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) as given by God – the Religion of Truth. As human beings we are given a consciousness and a duty that has placed us at the top to creation. Man is created to be God’s deputy on earth and it is important to realize the obligation to rid ourselves of all illusions and to make our lives a preparation for the next life. Anyone who misses this chance is not likely to be given another, to be brought back again, for it says in the Qur’an Majeed that when man is brought to account, he will say, "O Lord, send us back and give us another chance.’ The Lord will say, ‘If I send you back, you

By Michael Barrett On April 17, 2010 NO COMMENTS

I desperately need to succeed in college. I just started and I’m already finding it hard to focus in class, and my motivation is pretty low. I’m seeing my psychiatrist for depression soon, should I consult him about my ADD as well? Also, does your ADD medication genuinely help you focus with little or no side effects?

How do you get your baby on the bottle?

By Michael Barrett On April 16, 2010 6 COMMENTs

Now before you go judging me. My baby is going to be 6months in a couple weeks. Ive done nothing but breastfeed all the way. I would love to get back into work but cant because she refuses to take the bottle whether its breast-milk or formula! i have tried many kinds of of different bottles with different teats including the ones that imitate a real breast. I’m running out of options and was wondering if any body has and tips or ways for success in getting my lil one to take a bottle.
tried the sippy cup. she can drink out of it but chokes because the flows to quick. thanks for the good feedback.

What are ways to help my energetic child succeed in school?

By Michael Barrett On April 16, 2010 8 COMMENTs

His teachers are constantly coming to me about his energy, his inability to focus on one thing for too long, and his lack of enthusiasm for school. A lot of these are characteristics I had as a child (and still have today) and I was constantly singled out by my teachers. How can I help this to not happen to my child?
Good thing your mother wasn’t the mother of any of the greatest thinkers, artists, and inventors of our time.
I will never give my child a medication. Thanks for the suggestion, but no.

By Michael Barrett On April 15, 2010 1 COMMENT

Stupid assignment and cant think of anything

      ***************
      Personal

The eight personal virtues relate to your attitudes toward activities and their challenges. Good personal character traits will better your chances of success in achieving your goals.

Temperance: Eat not to dullness; drink not to elevation.

Order: Let all your things have their places; let each part of your business have its time.

Resolution: Resolve to perform what you ought; perform without fail what you resolve.

Frugality: Make no expense but to do good to others or yourself; i.e., waste nothing.

Moderation: Avoid extremes; forbear resenting injuries so much as you think they deserve.

Industry: Lose no time; be always employed in something useful; cut off all unnecessary actions.

Cleanliness: Tolerate no uncleanliness in body, clothes, or habitation.

Tranquility: Be not disturbed at trifles, or at accidents common or unavoidable.

Without our past, our future would be a tortuous path leading to nowhere. In order to move up the ladder of success and achievement we must come to terms with our past and integrate it into our future. Even if in the past we made mistakes, this will only make wiser people out of us and guide us to where we are supposed to be.

This past year, I was auditioning for the fall play, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." To my detriment I thought it would be a good idea to watch the movie in order to prepare. For two hours I studied Elizabeth

Can an entrepreneur succeed when he/she focuses on many ventures at once?

By Michael Barrett On April 15, 2010 3 COMMENTs

      Hello folks,

My personal coach recently advised me that an entrepreneur is only prone to succeed when focused on one area of interest at a time.
This is the exact opposite of what is happening in my case: I’m working on one consultancy project, as well as co-launching a marketing consultancy, an Internet project, and a construction one. :)
Those who have experience in similar situations – what do you think? Do you have/know of cases when people succeeded in one or many projects whilst working on them part-time?

      thanks! :)
